Day 3
Phew! Its only day three and I'm really starting to get tired, but its mostly because I've been going to bed so late and then getting up so early. I get to sleep a little later tomorrow so hopefully that will help a bit. I also need to stock up more at grocery stores, I can't take anymore fast food.
Well, I left Wyandotte / Lincoln Park this morning (unfortunately. I really like it there and its always great to hang out with Emily and Maria). On the way I was surprised when I saw a sign for the following:

I looked around for a sign for Vulcan but none could be found (I chose to go the Star Trek route as opposed to the Classics approach because personally I think its funnier.)
It was pretty cool, on the way through Michigan I came upon a convoy of 3000 GT / Dodge Counterparts (the name escapes me at the moment). There were like 6 in all, I was curious why they were all together like that. Only one VR-4, which is a shame. That was my dream car for a long time.

Eventually I hit the state border into Indiana, and suddenly I was pushed through a small rift in the space-time continuum to one hour earlier. You can see the turblance I was going through by the angle of the picture.

Between Indiana and Illinois there is a cool old metal bridge that curves around and seems pretty high when you look at it from far away. One thing I've realized from this trip that never really occurred to me before was how much I love industrial/old metalwork looking things. Bridges, machinery, buildings, etc.

Unfortunately, because of my plans to meet Ender and Cassie, and the time in the day when I hit Chicago, I wasn't able to explore the city - though I was sure to drive past it so I could get some cool pictures of the skyscrapers. One thing I've got to say though is how much the traffic absolutely sucks in and around Chicago. And when I say around I mean within like a 40 mile radius. It just wouldn't end no matter how far I went, the traffic was always bumper-to-bumper until I hit farmland again. I was glad I had gained an hour from the timezone shift as I was already going to be late for the meetup.

Eventually I hit Wisconsin, and I've got to say - there are a lot of cornfields out here. All over the area really. Supposedly there are quite a number of cheese outlets out here, which I really want to find, as Wisconsin has such a reputation for this dairy delight. Hopefully tomorrow I can find some before I hit Minnesota.
Anyway - I finally found the mall that we were meeting at, all in all I was only 1:15 late. And there were my two friends,
COOL-STUFF Ender

and the lovely Cassie

We, of course, played a little DDR, headed back to the hotel for a bit, prank called one of the guys who posts at ffshrine when not bowling, and then headed out to see Anchorman at the local theatre. It was my second time seeing it, but the movie is hilarious, I didn't mind.
Some fun facts about Ender and Cassie - Ender knows where absoultely NOTHING is in the town of Madison, which is humorous in a way as Ender has lived here forever. Cassie works at a funeral home, which is AWESOME, except she can't embalm people as she doesn't have a license. She does however write out death certificates. Both Ender and Cassie like Cheese Curds, This was Ender's first "krap" meetup, and Cassie doesn't like to drive when she doesn't have to. Its also kind of sad to meetup with cool people and then realize you won't be seeing them again for a long time. This has been, and will probably be, a recurring theme for the next few weeks.
Oh, and a picture containing me (and Cassie) for someone on krap who had asked.

Okay, I'm exhausted, off to bed. Minnesota and beyond tomorrow!
